OPENING LOG

Who: Eli Wallace and OPEN
What: Welcome to Destiny
Where: Stargate Room
When: One lonely night...
Warnings: None yet!

It had been a long week and a half.

Eli had spent most of it on the bridge, trying various calculations, trying to get the last stasis pod working, or, even better, find a way to extend life support or increase power to last the next three years.

It isn't looking hopeful.

When the all-too-familiar feeling of the ship shuddering out of FTL happens, he can't really believe it. Why? Why now? He's been monitoring the power consumption so carefully! And then he notices the indicator. The monitor belonging to Stargate Operations. He stares at it.

"...Incoming Wormhole?"

His voice is incredulous. No... Why now? Why?! There weren't any planetary Stargates in range, so that meant someone had dialled the Nine Chevron code from a non-Destiny-style Stargate.

They can't take on any more people. This screws everything over...

He sets a Kino off to go investigate the Gate Room, snatching up a remote, before heading to the armoury.

He jogs into the Gate Room just as the Wormhole connects, the familiar "ka-woosh" of the unstable vortex, before it settles into the event horizon. Eli takes up position at the console, a rifle under an arm... Just in case.

Martian Space--The oddest name, she muses but concludes she must be from Mars.

"I wasn't aware Mars had a space force program." she says eyeing the pistol as it is half lowered.

"To be honest, Major, I was not expecting any of this." The fact that the Stargate seems to be pulling people from other places is quite puzzling, plus the fact that quarantine seems to have been broken although her connection is a bit fuzzy. It's more troubling. She has to figure this out.

"It must be an effect to something," she muses with a frown. If Nick had broken her quarantine then perhaps it caused this mishap. Perhaps if she asks more questions she can come to a better conclusion.

Always good to live in hope.

"What was your form of travel prior to finding yourself here?"

Jackal stares at her a moment like there's something much more wrong than the starscape with the assertion that she didn't know Mars has a space force. For a moment, she even bristles as though it might be meant as an insult, but that just isn't the face of someone who picks a fight deliberately. Maybe unwittingly, but nevermind that.

"...kh... yeah. Probably an effect." She answers somewhat glibly, as though she's used to getting vague answers on the first attempt, then eyes Amanda a moment before answering, in turn.

"Shuttle. Off a TPT fr-... ...that's a transorbital personnel transport, from the FMS Viking in Belt. This 'Stargate.' It's not just a compressed space corridor, is it."

She glances at the starscape, then back toward the gate room. She's no engineer, but she knows enough of the basics of modern Metatron propulsion systems to know you just can't build a commspace corridor like that. She can maybe relate it back to familiar concepts, but it's such a huge stretch it's almost meaningless except as a way to process her situation.

"...where are we? Besides the name of the ship. ...and why are the doors locked? We'll need to get the hell out of here, sooner or later, and sooner is better."

"Oh no far from it," Amanda informs as a smile is starting to play on her lips. "It takes you to different planets depending on the address used and if there's a corresponding gate on the other end." It's the information that she had gleamed once. So much information. Why is it hard to access now?

"I always wanted to take a shuttle out," she muses looking at the star scape almost fondly. That's just a pipe dream now.

"Observation deck," she says and leans off the railing to approach the door and she tries to hit the button on the wall but her hand goes through it.

"So much for that," she says to herself before looking over at Jackal.

"I'm afraid I don't know. I don't have access." She thinks some more and has another thought. "It has to be Eli. Nick would never do this." Maybe Eli had really wanted to see Ginn again and is trapping her here.

"Maybe you should try banging on the door." she suggests unable to do it herself.

"...different planets."

She scowled at that. That really shouldn't be possible... ...right? She'd heard theories that Project Aumaan could have been harnessed to generate interplanetary commspace corridors, based on the recorded flight-time from the ground station to Phobos. Maybe this was similar. Maybe. She was pulled from that train of thought by the sight of Amanda's hand going right through the wall. Some kind of high-fidelity holographic projection?

"...fine. Anyway. I meant where in space. But if you can give me a sense of the ship's layout, that'll help, as well. And who are 'Eli' and 'Nick'? Who's actually in charge of this ship?"

It sounded like the sergeant didn't believe her. And that was fine. All it would take would be some time. Her hope was that she could show her. If only things were working properly.

Space...Not that could access the navigation systems. They were just somewhere in space. "I don't know," and she really hated not knowing. Things were so much simpler when she was able to access Destiny's databanks.

"They are part of the crew here. Colonel Young is in charge."

Where was everyone? She looked around.

"Eli is this not funny," she said in case he could hear her or anyone else within earshot.

Oh, that's good, a holographic AI interface that doesn't know what's going on aboard its own ship. This sure is promising. It does give Jackal a guess at just how disorganized and irregular the situation is, though.

"I'd ask if you can arrange a meeting with this Colonel Young, but I've got a hunch I know the answer."

She shook her head. Babysitting a balky DBBU probably wouldn't be the best way to spend her time, right now. She needed to get her bearings--at least as far as the ship, if not in any larger context.

"Tell you what. I'm going to take a look at the panels in the order room. See if I can work out how to get access to the rest of the ship. You let me know if you manage to get in touch with someone in command."
